6,019 to get capital hukou

The first round of 6,019 applicants who meet the qualifications for Beijing's household registration system, called hukou in Chinese, was published on Monday for public supervision, according to municipal authorities. Beijing launched its points-based application system for household registration in April this year after three years of investigation and research preparation in advance, in move to meet the demand of non-native Beijing residents to stabilize their living situation in the capital.

北京市政府表示，首批获得落户北京资格的6019名申请者15日已公示，接受社会监督。经过3年的前期调研准备工作，北京今年4月正式实施积分落户制度。此举旨在满足非京籍居民在京稳定生活的需求。

Beginning Monday, the 124,657 applicants can check their results on the official website to see if they are within the top 6,019. Li Sufang, deputy head of the Beijing Development and Reform Commission, said the number, which was decided to be about 6,000, was discussed thoroughly via the municipal government, and it will not affect Beijing's population control plan.
